Absentee Voting and Voter Privacy Information
When absentee ballots are counted, the name on the envelope is checked against the voter registration information to ensure it is a legal vote. Once this is complete, the envelope is opened and the folded vote is left folded and put into the ballot box and the envelope is put in a separate pile.  After all of the envelopes have been opened, the pile of still-folded ballots is mixed.  Only at this point are the ballots unfolded and counted.  Since our ballots are one-sided, you can be assured of the absolute privacy of your vote by making sure the directions are on the outside of your ballot when folded.
