Dear Parents/ Guardians and Students,

I would like to welcome you to the 2007-2008 school year. I welcome back our families from last year and also extend a special welcome to our newest families to Petrova. I hope that you have had a pleasant and relaxing summer.

As many of you already know, I was assigned as the Petrova Elementary School Principal at the August 22^nd board meeting. Years ago, I was a student at Petrova Elementary and graduated from Saranac Lake High School. I am a graduate of North Country Community College, SUNY Cortland and Syracuse University. I taught 2^nd, 3^rd & 5^th grade and was also the Dean of Students in the Syracuse City School District. My family and I moved back to Saranac Lake last year and I was the Saranac Lake Middle School Dean of Students. Being the Principal of Petrova Elementary School has always been a goal of mine.

As parents, stay involved with your son/daughter's education throughout the school year. Communication is an essential component of a truly successful school/parent partnership. I encourage you to establish positive communication with your child's teachers. Please feel free to contact the school at any time should you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate your feedback. At Petrova, we value your input and we will assist you in any way that we can.

As a reminder to parents, in order to increase the safety of your child(ren), we ask you to abide by the following routines. Upon entering the building at any time, we ask that you stop in the main office, sign in and obtain a visitor's pass. Also, please sign out at the main office prior to your departure. If your child is late to school, please bring them to the main office. When you need to pick up your child before school is dismissed, please come to the main office and sign your child out. If you come to school to take your child home with you at dismissal time, please go to the auditorium to wait. We will make an announcement over the P.A. system to pick up your child at their classroom. I appreciate your cooperation.

We have scheduled a PARENTS ONLY Open House on Wednesday, September 19^th from 6:30 – 7:45. We will send home a letter with further information. I look forward to working with you during the school year. Petrova Elementary School has a dedicated staff that is committed to providing your child with an outstanding elementary school experience. I look forward to an exciting 2007 – 2008 school year!
