Ideas for Writing Responses for Book Adventure

 

  1. Write a short story giving another character’s point of view.  For example:  Write the story of the Three Little Pigs from the Wolf’s point of view.  Is there a character in the book you read that would write a different version of your book?

 

  1. Imagine what a character in your book might write in his/her diary.  Write down what you think he/she would say and feel.

 

  1. Design an award for the Character in the story who you feel most deserves it.  Write a paragraph explaining what the character did to earn your award.

 

  1. Write the questions a TV reporter would ask one of the characters in your book about one important event that took place in the story.  Write his/her answers to the interview.

 

  1. Design and write a postcard from a character in the book to another character.  Be sure to say how the trip is and where the character is when sending the postcard.

 

  1. Write a travel log describing a trip one of your characters takes.

 

  1. Write a letter from one character to another telling about an important event in the book.

 

  1. Write an advertisement for something that one of the characters in the book needs.

 

  1. Write a poem about your book.

 

  1. Write a thank-you note for one of your characters.

 

  1. Create a conversation between two characters in your book.  Write the dialog.

 

  1. Make a brochure for a place in your book.  Tell what people/animals might find at place.  Remember you want them to come here to visit!

 

  1. Create a list of rules for a character or place in your book.

 

  1. Write a magazine article about a place in your book.  Describe what it is like, what people do there for a living, the climate, the geography.  Include pictures.

 

  1. Create a bumper sticker supporting one idea from your book.  Write a slogan and illustrate it.

 

  1. Write a story about yourself:  I am most like the character, _______________________________, in the book ______________________________________________.

 

  1. Write a “How To” essay explaining how something works in your book.

 

  1. Pretend you are a “Book Critic”.  Write a review of your book for the school newspaper.

 

  1. Design a book jacket for your book.

 

  1. Make a shopping list for a three-course meal you might serve to one of your characters.

 

  1. Make a baby book for one of your characters.  Include its birthday, its place of birth, weight, height, and other important events in his/her life.

 

  1. Write a summary of your book.

 

  1. Write about one character who has done something you admire.  Design a medal to give that person.

 

  1. Write a creation of your own, using some of the ideas from your book.

 

  1. Draw a comic strip telling about an event in your book.
