Ideas for Writing Responses for Book Adventure
- Write a short story
giving another character’s point of view. For example: Write the story of
the Three Little Pigs from the Wolf’s point of view. Is there a character in
the book you read that would write a different version of your book?
- Imagine what a character
in your book might write in his/her diary. Write down what you think he/she
would say and feel.
- Design an award for the
Character in the story who you feel most deserves it. Write a paragraph
explaining what the character did to earn your award.
- Write the questions a TV
reporter would ask one of the characters in your book about one important
event that took place in the story. Write his/her answers to the interview.
- Design and write a
postcard from a character in the book to another character. Be sure to say
how the trip is and where the character is when sending the postcard.
- Write a travel log
describing a trip one of your characters takes.
- Write a letter from one
character to another telling about an important event in the book.
- Write an advertisement
for something that one of the characters in the book needs.
- Write a poem about your
book.
- Write a thank-you note
for one of your characters.
- Create a conversation
between two characters in your book. Write the dialog.
- Make a brochure for a
place in your book. Tell what people/animals might find at place. Remember
you want them to come here to visit!
- Create a list of rules
for a character or place in your book.
- Write a magazine article
about a place in your book. Describe what it is like, what people do there
for a living, the climate, the geography. Include pictures.
- Create a bumper sticker
supporting one idea from your book. Write a slogan and illustrate it.
- Write a story about
yourself: I am most like the character, _______________________________, in
the book ______________________________________________.
- Write a “How To” essay
explaining how something works in your book.
- Pretend you are a “Book
Critic”. Write a review of your book for the school newspaper.
- Design a book jacket for
your book.
- Make a shopping list for
a three-course meal you might serve to one of your characters.
- Make a baby book for one
of your characters. Include its birthday, its place of birth, weight, height,
and other important events in his/her life.
- Write a summary of your
book.
- Write about one character
who has done something you admire. Design a medal to give that person.
- Write a creation of your
own, using some of the ideas from your book.
- Draw a comic strip
telling about an event in your book.
