SLHS Students Participate in Area All State and Conference All State:

Announcements

On Friday and Saturday, November 20-21, nearly 60 students from SLHS participated in the NYSSMA Zone 6 Area All-State music festival held at the Peru Middle/High School. Students were selected to participate in the festival through a rigorous audition process and our school is very proud to have sent the most music students of any school in our three-county Zone! Over the course of the two-day festival, students worked with guest conductors in one of four ensembles: Mixed Chorus, Concert Band, Women's Chorus, or Jazz Band, rehearsing for two days before performing a concert in front of a packed house. Congratulations to all participants for representing SLHS with great poise, maturity, and musicianship! Bravi!

Also, On Thursday, December 3rd - Sunday, December 6th, three highly talented SLHS Music students will represent our school and community at the NYSSMA Conference All-State. This is the absolute highest musical honor within the state of New York and represents a significant level of musical achievement. Students are selected based on their performance on a Level VI NYSSMA solo the previous spring. This year, three students will attend, all in the mixed chorus: juniors Will Gray (tenor), and Alivia Sapone (alto) will join senior Matthew Keating (bass) for three days of rehearsals with some of the most talented students in the state at the Rochester Convention Center with a culminating concerts at the renowned Kodak Hall of the Eastman School of Music. Congratulations!
