Chinese New Year at the Asian Buffet:


  On January 27th, Grade1,2 and 3 students will culminate the study of China with a trip to the Asian buffet for lunch on January 27th in celebration of the Chinese New Year.  Happy New Year!

Name the Pine Cone

Bloomingdale School News


Bloomingdale School students won the "Name the Pine Cone" Contest.  Fifth graders Ethan Dukett, Sadie Blanchard,  Lena DeDivitis and Elyse Corliss named the Pinecone "Bruce the Spruce."  The pine cone is the mascot for the up and coming World Snowshoe games to be held in Saranac Lake in February.

High School Photographers Update Websites:   


  Saranac Lake High School Digital Photography students Julian Gambacurta and Bryan Sullivan created the new slideshow on the right hand side of our District and High School Websites.  On the left hand side, the photography of Ben Goff and Zach Tracy were featured.  Interested in seeing more?  Stay tuned, all SLCS building websites are in the process of getting new makeovers!

High School Winter Concert

SLHS Winter Concert

All are encouraged to attend the 2016 SLHS Winter Concert to be held on Monday, December 19th at 7:00 in the High School Auditorium. The concert will feature all of our performing ensembles from the Festival Chorus to the Jazz Ensemble, Select Vocal Ensembles, Concert Band, and Concert Choir. The performance will close with the traditional singing of the "Hallelujah" Chorus from Handel's "Messiah" led by current vocal students as well as scores of choral alumni. The concert is free and open to the public.

Middle School Contest Winners!

Three Middle School Students Win Design Contests:   


  The Middle School won 2nd and 3rd in the Daily Enterprise Design-An-Ad contest. Tasman Kanze-2nd, Morgan Olsen- 3rd.
Georgia Bickford was the winner of the SLMS Peace Contest and moves on to represent our school and town in the next level of the Lion's International Peace Poster Contest.

 Just around the corner:  


    December 12th Family Holiday wreath making sponsored by the BLT from 4-6:30.  The wreath will be $15.00 and preregistration is required.  Students received the registration form.
December 13th;  School Picture Retake Day
December 15th:  Holiday Concert at 10 and 1:30.  Guests are invited to attend the 10 o'clock performance if possible to avoid overcrowding in the afternoon performance.
December 16th:  Movie and Storytelling Night sponsored by the Parents Club.
December 19th: Holiday Shopping Students purchase gifts for family members for 25 cents.  Donations are needed and please drop off daily from 7:30-4:00.  Please no stuffed animals.

Share Your Passion Day

2nd Event at the Middle School:  


The Middle School is holding it's 2nd "Share Your Passion Day" on Monday, 11/21/16. Teachers offer a variety of full day and half day sessions based on things they are passionate about but aren't necessarily part of the yearly curriculum. Students sign up for an activity or two that interests them or that they want to find out more about. Then, on the 21st, students attend the sessions they chose in place of regularly scheduled classes.

Fun for students and families at B'Dale: 


On Wednesday October 5th, Bloomingdale will welcome The Seagle Music Colony for the second year in a row.  The students and faculty enjoyed them immensely last year.  We are all looking forward to the performance of Jack and The Beanstalk at 1:30 in the auditorium.  Parents are invited to attend.

Field Trips have started at Bloomingdale.  In the morning of October 5th, the first and second graders will attend a performance at the LPCA of a illusionist pianist.  On Friday,October 7th the fourth grade will go for their first field trip sponsored by the Adirondack Mountain club.  The Kindergartners will go to Tucker's Farm for potatoes.  We are grateful to the Adirondack Mountain Club and the Bloomingdale Parents Club for these learning opportunities for our students.

District Wide Evacuation Drill

Evacuation Practice on October 6th: 


Students and staff will be doing a District Wide Evacuation Practice on October 6th with a rain date of October 7th at 9:45am.  Please dress for the weather!
